In a recent episode of “Call Me Back,” Rachel Goldberg Pollin shared a thought-provoking idea that inspired a new element for our Pesach Seder. This year, we’re adding a lemon to our Seder plate, a symbol rich with meaning—reflecting hope and the sourness of ongoing struggles for freedom.
We’ve developed a ritual around this symbol, which is detailed below, and encourage you to watch the podcast as part of your Pesach preparation.
The ritual is designed to complement the “Ha Lachma Anya” we had previously shared to introduce the “Magid” portion of our Seder this year.
May this lemon inspire us to bring light into the dark corners of our world.
Join with Tammy Cohen RJE in singing the words of Acheinu, which we recorded last Pesach, to support the work of Project Butterfly.
As we gather to recount once more the story of our ancestors’ journey from bondage to freedom, may these new elements on our Seder plate serve as a profound reminder of our ongoing commitment to seeking justice and compassion in our world.
Wishing you and your loved ones a Pesach filled with peace, joy, and renewal. May our celebrations this year bring us closer to the ultimate redemption we all seek.
