Our b’ mitzvah goals are simple:

  • To be true to who we are by celebrating the diversity of observance practice and belief in our community and only including rites and rituals that are relevant and meaningful to you.
  • To foster a sense of belonging that enables you to find your place in our people’s stories by learning the lessons of our past and applying them to your own life.
  • To ensure the future of our living tradition, by helping the next generation of Jews become their best selves. It is more than just a day of celebration, and it is a journey of transformation.

Personalised journey and celebration

As we all know, our community is rapidly changing as we increasingly recognise and celebrate the diversity of our families and our commitment to inclusivity. Our b’ mitzvah celebrations have similarly evolved to reflect our commitment to egalitarianism and pluralism.

We offer both religious and cultural celebrations that serve as the perfect culmination of a formative and transformative learning journey. We are also proud to offer a myriad of opportunities to include friends and family who don’t identify as being Jewish in your celebration. No two b’ mitzvah celebrations at shtiebel are alike. With you, we tailor a unique experience and celebration.

Jewish Journeys program

Your ‘Jewish Journeys’ program includes 8 tailored sessions (online or in-person) exploring Jewish culture, rituals and tradition and unique family history projects. Alternatively, we can work with you to plan and deliver a customised program with topics and goals of your choosing.

private tutoring

Students meet weekly or fortnightly with a private tutor to develop the reading of Torah and Haftorah, the skill of Cantillation (or trope) and key prayers or readings that they will lead on the day.

With regular practice, most students meet their learning goals with 20 – 25 sessions with their tutor.
