collaborate

We are excited to engage in ongoing collaborations with individuals and organisations. Through these collaborations, we can further develop and support meaningful, personal and accessible religious education, spiritual engagement and communal involvement. If you would like to speak to us about an ongoing collaboration, please email frontdoor@shtiebel.org.au

The Chai Collective, founded by Sarah, Adrian, and Tammy—directors of the acclaimed August 2023 production of Fiddler on the Roof at The Alex Theatre—was created to breathe life into Jewish stories through the arts. Our passion for authentic storytelling, combined with the positive response from our community, led to the formation of this vibrant collective.

In collaboration with Shtiebel, we are thrilled to present Live @ Shtiebel. This initiative aims to showcase talented artists, fostering soulful experiences and meaningful connections within our community. If you’re interested in performing, please visit Live @ Shtiebel Artists to learn more and complete our Expression of Interest form.

Welcome to The Chai Collective, where we bring Jewish stories to life.

Founded by Rabbi Shneur Reti Waks and the team at Rabbi Without Borders, Neshama was created to engage deeply with Jewish life.

At Neshama, we promote an environment where everyone can celebrate, learn, pray, and sing with soul. “Neshama” means soul, reflecting our focus on the essence of community and spirituality over formalities.

At Neshama, they bridge this gap by focusing on what unites us: a shared commitment to a Jewish life that is personal, communal, meaningful, and spiritually fulfilling, in harmony with modern values.

Shtiebel assists Neshama with marketing and administration, as well as providing space for regular classes and monthly services.

“Mazon Australia, a Jewish Response to Hunger, was founded with a core belief: In a world of plenty, hunger and malnutrition should not exist. Mazon Australia is a non-profit organisation which allocates donations to prevent and alleviate hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds.”

We are in the process of developing, building and establishing an onsite Street Pantry, together with Mazon Australia, under a give what you can, take what you need model. Our community will help provide non-perishable food items for those in need to come and take what they need.

We will run various collections and drives through our education and community engagement programs.

La Nua

La Nua is a 4-session journey of self-exploration through dance, integrating principles of somatic dance movement, self-expression through dance, and the 5 Rhythms. This process enables us to enhance body awareness, release, connect, and express ourselves organically and authentically.

Join us and allow yourself the space to be and heal with a community of like-minded individuals in a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental environment.

Led by Ayelet Ashkar, the sessions are designed for women and will take place on the last Sunday of the month starting August 25. Sessions cost $30 each, or all four sessions cost $100.

Who makes the Rules? A songwriting workshop by Ari Jacobs

“The thing about songwriting is that it’s full of contradictions. There are no rules. But there sort of are. You learn them and then break them, invent them for yourself and then pretend they don’t exist, they serve you and then you serve them and then you break free and repeat.”

Ari Jacobs will be leading a songwriting workshop through the month of August – an opportunity for artists, writers and thinkers to gather together to explore and break these rules.

For more information about the songwriting course, please contact Ari (0400928816)

The workshop will culminate with a concert at Shtiebel, WHO MAKES THE RULES? New Works by Emerging Artists. During this concert, the artists will share what they’ve learnt in a beautiful line-up of talented and thoughtful emerging artists, with new works, old works, pieces written together and pieces they have loved forever.
